Choose an engineer and intensity
The 6 engineer styles are different starting sounds for your master. Intensity sets how strongly the processing is applied. How to pick both.
Engineers
An engineer is a starting sound for the whole master. Every track starts with Avery. Your control settings still apply on top of whichever engineer you choose.
| Engineer | Style | Sound |
|---|---|---|
| Avery | Balanced | Clean, honest masters that keep your mix the way you made it. |
| Rio | Loud and bright | Hip hop, trap and EDM that hit hard on phone speakers. |
| June | Warm analog | Tape-style glue and soft highs for soul, R&B and indie. |
| Theo | Open and dynamic | Room to breathe for acoustic, jazz and orchestral music. |
| Nova | Wide modern pop | Polished width and sparkle for pop and synth music. |
| Sol | Soft and lo-fi | Gentle, dusty tone for lo-fi, ambient and bedroom pop. |
To switch, select Change next to the engineer’s name, either at the top of the Adjust panel or in the Track panel on the right. Pick an engineer and select Use this engineer. The dialog also shows roughly how much louder or quieter each engineer is than Avery, so you can tell a change in tone from a change in level.
Choosing an engineer doesn’t render anything by itself. Select Save changes to hear it as a new revision.
A good way to start: save one revision with each engineer that sounds close to your genre, then compare them while the track plays.
Intensity
Intensity, in the Track panel, sets how strongly the engineer’s processing is applied.
| Setting | Strength |
|---|---|
| Low | 30% |
| Balanced | 70% |
| High | 100% |
Balanced is the default. Try Low if the master sounds overworked, and High if it still sounds too much like your mix. Like the engineer, a new intensity is heard after you save changes.
