Who it’s for

Anyone with a finished song and no mastering engineer: bedroom producers, independent artists and bands putting out their own music, and people who make songs with AI music generators and want them to sound finished next to everything else on a playlist.

If you can export a stereo mix, you can use it. You don’t need to know what a limiter is.

How our online mastering works

You upload a stereo mix and pick the part of the song you most want to hear. MasteringKit masters 30 seconds of it in about a minute, so you can compare it with your original before you decide anything.

The mastering is a chain of familiar tools. It listens to your mix and sets EQ, compression, saturation, stereo width and limiting for it, then brings it up to a loudness that holds up on streaming services, earbuds and car speakers.

You make the calls. There are eleven controls, an intensity setting and a six-band EQ. You can also write what you want in a sentence, like “warmer, less harsh highs”, and get a new version with a note on what changed. The six engineers, Avery, Rio, June, Theo, Nova and Sol, are mastering styles rather than people: each one is a different starting point for the same track.

Nothing gets overwritten. Every change is saved as a new version, and you can switch between versions while the track plays.

Listening and adjusting are free. A paid plan lets you download the full mastered track. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.

What to upload

The final stereo mix, ideally as WAV, with a little headroom and no limiter on the master bus. MasteringKit accepts WAV, MP3, FLAC, AIFF, M4A or OGG files up to 1.5 GB and 22:30 long.

Mastering finishes a mix; it can’t rebalance one. If the vocal is buried or the bass is too loud, fix that in the mix first and the master will be better for it.

The example tracks on the home page use these vocals from ccMixter. We wrote the instrumentals, then mixed and mastered each song.
