Terms of service
The rules for using MasteringKit, written to be read. The short version: upload only music you have the rights to, you keep ownership of it, and you can cancel any time.
Using the service
These terms apply when you use MasteringKit at masteringkit.com, including the website, the mastering workspace and any files you download from it. By uploading a track, creating an account or buying a plan, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
“We” and “us” mean the team that runs MasteringKit. “You” means the person using it.
Your account
You can try MasteringKit without an account. To keep projects and buy a plan, you sign in with your email address or with Google. Keep access to your email and Google account secure, because anyone who can sign in as you can use your projects and plan.
An account is for one person. Give accurate details, and tell us at support@masteringkit.com if you think someone else has used your account.
Your music
Only upload audio you have the right to use. That means you made it, you own it, or you have permission from everyone who owns a part of it, including samples, beats and vocals. If you upload a song made with an AI music generator, check that the generator’s terms allow you to use and release it.
You keep ownership. Your uploads and the masters made from them belong to you, or to whoever owned them before. MasteringKit makes no claim to them.
What you allow us to do. You give us permission to store, copy and process your files only as needed to run the service for you: to analyse them, make previews and masters, keep them in your projects and let you download them. This permission ends when the files are deleted.
We don’t publish your uploads, share them with other users, or use them to train AI models.
Acceptable use
Don’t use MasteringKit to:
- upload audio that infringes someone else’s copyright or other rights;
- upload anything illegal;
- get around usage limits, for example by opening many free accounts;
- access the service with bots or scripts, or put an unreasonable load on it;
- probe, break or bypass its security;
- resell or share access to a paid plan.
Plans described as unlimited are for normal personal and professional use. We may slow down or limit use that is automated or clearly beyond that, and we will contact you first where we can.
Plans and payments
- Current plans and prices are on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars.
- Plans are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly. They renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Payments are processed by Stripe (cards) and PayPal. We don’t receive or store your full card number.
- You can cancel at any time from Billing in your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
- If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you by email before the new price applies to a renewal.
- If you think you were charged by mistake, email support@masteringkit.com and we will look into it.
Free use has limits, which are described in the help center. We may change what is included for free.
Files and backups
We keep your files for a limited time: 24 hours for guests, until 30days without activity on a free account, and while you are subscribed plus 90 days on a paid plan. The privacy policy has the details.
MasteringKit is not a backup service. Keep your own copies of your mixes and download the masters you want to keep.
Copyright complaints
If you believe audio on MasteringKit infringes your copyright, email support@masteringkit.com with the subject “Copyright complaint” and include:
- your name and contact details;
- the work you believe is being infringed;
- enough information for us to find the material, such as a shared link or the track title;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn’t authorised by the owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the information in your complaint is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We may remove the material and suspend accounts that repeatedly upload infringing audio.
Changes and availability
We keep improving MasteringKit, so features, controls and the sound of the processing will change over time. We aim to keep the service running, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors.
Mastering is a matter of taste, and the result depends on the mix you upload. Listen to every master before you release it. The service is provided as it is, without promises that it will suit a particular purpose.
Liability
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost income or a missed release date, and our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer law that can’t be removed by agreement.
Ending your use
You can stop using MasteringKit at any time. To delete your account and its files, emailsupport@masteringkit.com from the address you sign in with.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to download your masters first.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters for how you use the service, we will also tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
