Privacy policy

What we collect, why, who processes it for us, and how long we keep it.

Last updated November 7, 2026

In short

  • Your tracks are private. We don’t publish them and we don’t use them to train AI models.
  • We collect what we need to master your music, run your account and take payment, and nothing for advertising.
  • Files are deleted automatically after a set time, and you can delete them yourself sooner.
  • We don’t sell your personal information.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details. Your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive the name and profile picture on your Google account.
  • Audio and projects. The files you upload, the previews and masters we make from them, track names, the settings of each revision, and instructions you type in the workspace.
  • Messages. What you send when you email us.

Payment information

Payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal. You enter your card or PayPal details on their forms, and we never see or store your full card number. We receive what we need to manage your plan, such as the plan, its status, the billing dates and the type of payment method.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers record technical information when you use the service: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested and error logs. We use it to keep the service running, to set fair usage limits and to stop abuse.

How we use it

  • To master your tracks and show you previews and revisions.
  • To keep your projects in your account and let you download your masters.
  • To sign you in, take payment and manage your plan.
  • To send service emails, such as email confirmation and password-reset links, receipts and notices before files are deleted.
  • To answer support requests.
  • To protect the service against fraud, abuse and attacks.

Your audio

Your uploads and masters are private to your account, or to your browser if you haven’t signed up. They are only processed to make and deliver your masters. We don’t publish them, share them with other users, sell them or use them to train AI models.

We may listen to a specific file only when you ask us to, for example to help with a support request, or when we have to look into a copyright complaint.

Services we use

We use a small number of companies to run MasteringKit. They process data on our behalf and only for these purposes:

  • Cloudflare hosts the website, stores your files and protects the service from automated abuse.
  • A cloud computing provider runs the audio processing that makes your previews and masters. Files are sent there only to be processed.
  • An AI language model provider turns instructions you type in the workspace into mastering settings. It receives the text you type, the current settings and measurements of the track, such as its loudness and genre. It doesn’t receive your audio.
  • Stripe and PayPal process payments.
  • Google handles sign-in if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • An email delivery provider sends email confirmations, password-reset emails, receipts and service notices.

These providers may process data in countries other than your own.

How long we keep data

AccountUploads, previews and masters are kept
Guest (no account)24 hours after upload
Free accountUntil the account has gone 30 days without activity
Paid planWhile you are subscribed, plus 90 days after the plan ends

Files are deleted automatically when the time runs out. You can delete a project at any time, which removes its upload, previews and masters straight away.

Account details are kept while you have an account. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, even after you close your account.

Cookies

We use cookies that the service needs to work: to keep you signed in, to keep track of projects you start as a guest, and to protect against automated abuse. We don’t use advertising cookies.

Your choices and rights

  • Delete any project yourself from your projects.
  • Ask us for a copy of your personal information, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything in it.
  • Object to how we use your information, or ask us to limit it.

Email support@masteringkit.com from the address you sign in with. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Security

Connections to MasteringKit are encrypted, files are stored with access limited to the systems that process them, and payment details stay with Stripe and PayPal. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

Children

MasteringKit is not intended for children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use your information, we will also tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
